Tubis AG receives operating licenses for pyrolysis technology
in Plauen and Nobitz
The Tubis Group’s years of development work in the field of recycling mixed plastic waste are now bearing fruit. With the new operating licenses in accordance with the 4th BlmSchV for the innovative pyrolysis technology at the Plauen and Nobitz sites, plastics recycling is now being taken to a new level.
Until now, it has hardly been possible to make mixed plastic waste economically viable and return it to the raw material cycle. For the most part, it was disposed of in landfills or incinerated. Only unmixed waste could be recycled.
With its highly innovative systems, Tubis can now completely recycle mixed plastic waste and residual materials. In a controllable, continuous production process, the finest crude oil of the highest quality is produced at process temperatures of up to 570°C. The new pyrolysis technology enables efficient and therefore economical output on an industrial scale – production is clean and virtually residue-free.
The capacity of the now approved plants in Plauen and Nobitz is 24.5 kt of substitute fuels and plastic waste per year in each case. The pilot plant in Plauen is located on the site of the former printing press manufacturer Plamag. Production is scheduled to start there in the second quarter of 2025. In addition, two further approval procedures for Tubis plants are underway in Germany.
The aim is to roll out the technology quickly in the coming years and expand across various locations. With its in-house development team, Tubis is able to continuously develop the new pyrolysis technology and adapt it to local conditions. The aim is to optimize plastics recycling specifically and economically.
